Let's start the year loud & proud

Goodbye 2011!  

You’ll forever be tagged in my head as one of my memorable years yet. In 2011, I feel that I have grown.  I learned so much & I gained a lot of experience. Bad day, bad news, bad experiences have really made me appreciate the good day, good news, good experiences that I have blessed with. There were lots of challenges & trials but thinking on a positive vibes, I couldn't be happier at this moment with the experience I receive during the last 12 months. 

• I learned that beautiful things happen when I break the rules, be myself, follow my passion & go for it.
• I learned that do everything with love. Look for beauty & inspiration in unexpected places. It makes me happy & it make things interesting.
• I learned that act as I want to be treated. The energy and the effort I put out will be returned to me many times over. Give love, I’ll get love in return & give happiness, I’ll get happiness. 
• I learned that I need to make my own opportunities, create my own luck and look after my own fortunes. Never wait for someone else to hand me what it is I am looking for.
• I learned that live slowly. Appreciate the small pleasure in life that makes me smile.

As the year is coming to an end I cannot stop thanking my blog readers. It is wonderful being able to share my thought, style, designs, inspiration and glimpse of my life with you.

I'm welcoming you with an open arms, big hugs, thousands of flying kisses & millions of love. Yes!  I'm starting to love you 2012 & please be nice to me.I can feel that you will be really good & sweet to me. I know that I will have a lot of beautiful memories.  2012 going to be my year. Yes my year!. I'm missing people that used to be around me. Dear 2012 I would love to meet and spend time with all of them this year as much as possible.

How to have a lovely day?

I found these 10 steps on How to have a lovely day & I had to share them with you. I did test all of them. Believe it or not, it did change my day. I feel like my day is just getting better and better.

1. Smile at strangers. I like smiling. I believe there is always a reason to smile. When I smile instantly I feel good and happy.
2. Slow down.  Yep I’m taking one step at a time. 
3. Say thank you. Too often people take for granted and underestimate the power of saying thank you to others.  We all should say thank you. It can make others people feel good & it makes you feel good too. 
4. Dress nicely. I just love dressing up.
5. Give lots of compliments. Yes, this is something I didn’t do much. I just couldn't compliments people just for the sack of it. It need to come from my heart.
6. Wear perfumes.  I love the transformation power of perfume. Honestly I can’t have enough. It is so fresh & the smell is beautiful. It never fail to make my day beautiful & lovely.
7. Observe & listen. Okay! I'm doing it.
8. Be charming.  It is all about heart & soul.
9. Laugh. Laugh till my stomach hurt.
10. Wish people a lovely day. Have a great day!

Flowers can make me happy. The more, the merrier.

      Lately I was so inspired by amazing oversized frames & I knew that I had to have them in my room. You may remember I have posted my painting few years back (2007 here, 2008 here and 2011 here).  I thought that my painting needed a bit more structure to make them stand out. So I decide to order a simple custom made frame & I have framed some of them. Finally my paintings are behind the glass. I put it on my bedroom wall opposite my bed which is just perfect for now. Check out few of snapshots along the process. 

Now you will come to know how nosy is my cat's Coco. Yes she is!

I want! I want! I want has the only thing that come to my mind. It was definitely love at first sight.

Searching for that perfect something for another too often leads me to accidentally discovering that perfect something for myself. Yes of course for me darling!

What to give man? If you've got a man to buy for, it can be tricky finding the perfect gifts for him   (emm..I didn’t mean perfect over here actually I mean the gifts that he will reallyyy love & like)

Useful tips to buy a gift for men. 

• Before buying things for men I guess we should look at the men personality & his mindset. I think he will appreciate things that reflect who he is.
• Words that he passing can be a guide too. Make a mental note when he starts rambling about certain items. But if he rambling about certain cars, yes definitely he wanted that car. When it comes to this just ignore darling... (Oh boy! talk to the hand)
• Make a list of things he has. Shortlist things that he doesn't & buy for him the things that you think he most need. 
• Buy him an activity. Let say if he likes outdoor, book him a road trip.

I can't believe my beautiful Coco turned 1 last October. It feels like yesterday that I saw her in the cage at my grand parents house. She has been such a wonderful  addition to our family & I love her so much. I feel so fortunate & grateful to be able to enjoy each of my day with Coco. Her cuteness never fail to amuse & amaze me. Everyday of my life has been happier since she first hopped into my life.

It almost the end of the year, usually this is the time that I love just to sit back & to take into account all the things that I am truly are thankful for. These are the few things that are making me terribly happy & grateful.

I am most thankful for the people in my life- from the past & present. People that always appreciate me, love me, accept me as I am & be there for me.

I am grateful for my family and friends who are always supportive, encouraging & loving.

I am grateful to be one & only daughter of an amazing parent. 

I am grateful for all my wonderful blog readers. I am grateful for you reading my blog.

What have been keeping me feel so comfortable?

Confession! 

I wear my black heel wedge a lot. So much so that I could quickly become embarrassing if I posted every time I put it on (Have a look at  my previous photos).  I own it last March. I throw it on to run to the market, to class & to do my shopping.  I am in love with this heels, it make whatever I've got feel more comfortable. I wear it to just about every single outing and parties I attend. It just always works. I abusively wore all year long. Even now big boss mummy start giving me unapproved look when I keep wearing this wedge. 

Okay I hide this wedge already mummy, no need to make faces!

... 

but the truth is I am still in love with it & sometimes I do miss this blackly wedge. I want to get a new one in different colour ( or maybe this is what I want for Christmas).

Hey Shorty: Guide to dressing for petite sizes

According to fashion industry petite defined as 5'5 inches tall & under. My 5' tall make me fall under a petite category. I found that fashion for petite women can be at time tricky and challenging. But trust me darling, if you know the trick, we actually have a lot of advantage. So to all the petite women the news isn't all bad. Just because you are petite doesn't mean you can't make a big fashion statement. After all good things come in a small package. 

Here are some tips & tricks to highlight your assets: 

Empire waist 
Anything with higher rise will elongate your legs. Find shorts and trousers that hits at your natural waist.Long sleeves tops & jacket sleeves must not be any longer that your wrist.


Tops Neckline
V neck & broad necklines flatter petite women as they create an illusion of a long and lean neckline.


Choose the best length
Skirts should not cover your knees. Maxi skirts are not graze the floor. Pants should always graze the top of your feet. 


Simple
Stick to simple snug fitting clothes. The classic wrap dress is very friendly because it points a vertical line on your body. It is important to maintain clean, lean, line when dressing.

Think Balance
Too much fabric will over power your figure. So think balance. Volume on top means slim on the bottom & vice verse.

Monochromatic outfits

Shorter women will look taller and more pulled together.If they wear the same colour from head to toe.

Jewellery 

Necklace and earring draw attention up to the face. So a long statement necklace with bright colours really draws eyes up. 

Be sexy

Show some part of the body so you don't get lost in your clothes.


Have a great tailor
One of the most important parts of being able to wear the dress that you totally fell in love with is to be able to know that you have a great tailor that you can count.


With a few tricks on hand & positives thinking, I'm sure all petite women will look fabulous. Honestly, if you have a great personality & style, no one will even bother about your lack of height. Just keep your chin up darling!

Can you really blame a guy for wearing his jeans a bit too high on his waist?  Well, No! But we can offer advice for better style.

When you wear a blazer with shorts, you get the feeling that you’re dressed up, but you’re still casual. It says ' I don’t work for The Man.’ Most guys, if they’re going to pull this look off, would probably be more comfortable wearing an unstructured cotton jacket with busted-up cargo shorts. It takes a brave man to wear a tailored jacket with tailored shorts. Which will look like this...

Do remind yourself whether you wear a crisp blazer or rumpled cotton jacket when you wear it with shorts, skip the socks. As Macko says, you don’t want to look like you live in Bermuda.

Back to School...

Hello Lovelies!

I' been busy preparing and planning for the upcoming Delila Petite Collection. I can't go too much detail yet. But I'm so thrill & excited to share this with all of you. I hope you're as excited as I am. To brushing up my skills in tailoring and preparing myself to design for the next collection, now I am taking tailoring short courses.  One of my favourite things about designing and making dresses is that I feel it always keep me on my toe- I am challenging myself to keep up with the latest and greatest as well as educating myself on things.
